Checking In & Out
Women's Conference and Education WeekHousing assignments will be sent out a few weeks before the conference starts. When you arrive at BYU, you may check in and get your key at the area central building of the housing area you are assigned. If you arrive after the office has closed, call the phone number posted on the front door and the Residence Life staff member on call will come check you in.
All EFY check-ins will take place at the Heritage Halls Central Building. Participants should park in the parking lot that is east of the J. Reuben Clark Law School and south of the Creamery on Ninth. They will then cross (on foot) Heritage Drive to the central building, and follow the signs/staff to the check-in area. There you will check in with EFY and receive your keys (if staying in Heritage Halls) or be directed to your residence hall (if staying in Helaman Halls).
Due to construction on 900 East over the course of the summer, please follow the prescribed entry route.
Most sports camps check-ins will occur on Monday mornings at the parking lot west of LaVell Edwards Stadium. Please make sure you check your information packet for your camp’s specific check-in location and time. Once checked in, you will be directed to your assigned residence hall where Residence Life staff will ask to see a valid guest card (which you will receive upon checking in). Participants must have their guest card in order to get their room key.
Youth Workshops/Dance Camps
Most youth workshop and dance camp check-ins are on Monday mornings. Participants may check in with their camp where directed in their information packet received from the camp or workshop. Once checked in, you will be directed to your assigned residence hall where Residence Life staff will ask to see a valid guest card (which you will receive upon checking in). Participants must have their guest card in order to get their room key.
Depending on the availability of housing, participants may arrive one or two days early for their conference, with the exception of Women's Conference and Education Week. There are no early arrivals available for Women's Conference, while Education Week guests may arrive one day early. For conferences that begin on a Monday, participants may check in after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday or after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The later check-in time on Saturday allows for rooms to be cleaned after groups leave that morning.
There is an early arrival fee of $25 per night, plus any money for the cost of food. Participants will need to check in to the housing area in which they will be staying for their camp or conference. Residence Life staff are responsible for the limited supervision of participants before their conference or camp begins. A bed check will be performed at 10:00 p.m. after which camp participants will need to stay in the building.
You may request early housing by sending an email to the Campus Accommodations office at email@example.com. In this email, please include your anticipated arrival date, conference/camp name, parent's name (if applicable), and phone number. Once received, we will send you an email confirmation that we received your request and whether or not it is possible.
Housing assignments will be sent out a few weeks before the conference starts. When you arrive at BYU, you may check in and get your key at the area central building of the housing area you are assigned. If you arrive after the office has closed, call the phone number posted on the front door and the Residence Life staff member on call will come check you in.
Any participant arriving after registration has closed is considered a late arrival. After the completion of the registration and check in, the sponsoring department takes all unclaimed participant meal cards to the housing area main desk. Late arriving participants should report to their housing area's central building to pick up their card and registration packet. This will allow them to fully check in to their room. If the participant arrives after office hours, the head counselor of the camp or conference should be contacted.
All participants should check out by 9:00 AM on the last day of their conference. No exceptions can be made for late departures. Participants staying at Heritage Halls should be picked up in the parking lot east of the J. Reuben Clark Law School, as parking within the complex is severely limited.
Instructions for checking out of BYU housing are posted in each bedroom. Guests should report any lost items or damages that occurred during their stay and make arrangements with the hall or area desk for payment.
Upon checking out be sure to return your key--if the key is not returned, you will be charged a $30 replacement fee. This fee covers the cost of replacing the lock, which is done within 24 hours of the key not being returned at check-out.
